Awinash Bawle joined the Office of South Asia and Oceania at the U.S. Department of Commerce in July 2006.  Over the last 3 years, he has served on the India desk covering a range of market access and compliance issues for U.S. industry, including: infrastructure, energy and environment, intellectual property rights, WTO negotiations, financial services, and foreign direct investment.  He also undertook a rotation working as an economics officer for the State Department at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai in 2007.  Mr. Bawle completed his Master’s degree in international affairs at the Monterey Institute for International Studies in Monterey, California, where he focused his studies on India and international trade.
