A 25 year veteran in the shipping and logistics industry, Robert F. Sappio was appointed Senior Vice President of the Trans Pacific Trade for APL in 2003. He is responsible for all the company’s business in the massive Asia – North America trade, and as such is the senior trade executive for the company.

Before that he spent one year as Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing for the Americas Region, and the prior two years was based in Singapore at the headquarters of APL parent company, the NOL Group, overseeing global sales, marketing and worldwide fleet deployment.

 

Mr. Sappio joined APL in 1982. His other management responsibilities with the company have included:

• Vice President and Managing Director, Central Asia, based in Hong Kong.
• Vice President and Managing Director, Eastern Region, based in New York
• Southeast Asia Regional Director, based in Singapore

Mr. Sappio holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wagner College in New York City. Mr. Sappio is an active member of the U.S. Naval Institute, the U.S. Navy League, the Naval War College Foundation, and serves as a trustee of the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, and on the Board of Directors for the California –Asia Business Council. He presently resides in the San Francisco bay area with his wife and two sons.
