Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and ProductionMaria Pica is currently the Policy, Government and Public Affairs Manager for Chevron’s Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company. In her current role, Maria overseas public and government affairs matters in nine countries where Chevron maintains operations or investments in the Asia Pacific region.
Previously, Maria served as the Manager for Global Issues and Policy at Chevron. In this capacity, managed the development of Chevron’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report; led the development Chevron’s Human Rights Statement and training; and engaged with external stakeholders, including shareholders, NGOs and socially responsible investment groups regarding Chevron’s social and environmental performance. Her team was also responsible for tracking geopolitical and socioeconomic trends that can impact energy security.
Prior to joining Chevron, Maria was a Director at the National Security Council, the White House, where she worked on democracy, human rights and international justice issues. She was a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Democracy Human Rights and Labor during both the Clinton and Bush Administrations. While at the State Department, Maria served on several U.S. delegations to UN conferences and commissions. Maria began her career in government as the Deputy Counsel on the International Relations Committee of the House of Representatives, working for the Honorable Lee Hamilton.
During her professional career, Maria has traveled to over 25 countries including North Korea, Colombia, Indonesia and Nigeria. Maria received her law degree from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C.
