Consider an Internship with California-Asia Business Council

California-Asia Business Council (Cal-Asia) is the state's leading non-profit business association dedicated to catalyzing commerce between California and Asia.

We look for bright and energetic individuals who are interested in international commerce and sustainable development to join our internship team. This is a volunteer internship opportunity.

We offer a year-round volunteer internship opportunity to gain invaluable practical business exposure to U.S.-Asia business. A keen interest in Asia and international business, plus a desire to help make a difference in the sustainable development of the Pacific Area are important. Numerous opportunities will be available to interact with California businesses and overseas diplomats and business persons.

Intern Activities:

Cal-Asia interns become involved in the daily operational aspects of our office and programs. Interns support the director with planning Asia-specific events for California businesses, particularly the Bay Area. Interns will also assist with visitors, handle telephone calls, and light clerical and administrative support duties. The interns also use and update Cal-Asia's database and email distribution program.

Once they have sufficient experience, interns will help strategize program series, work closely with our country section chairpersons and consular officers, and conceptualize future activities to grow Cal-Asia.

Projects range from research in comparative economic development, banking and financial systems, environmental/sustainable development strategies, country-specific research, and California state and regional trade and investment facilitation. Aslo, program management to management of web sites.

Cal-Asia is also building a twitter presence (calasiaorg), and a facebook page. Developing twitter content specific to busines and economic conditions in Asia and presenting program content on facebook are other aspects of the internship.

Internship Eligibility:

It is imperative that Cal-Asia interns be able to communicate in a professional environment, be enthusiastic, be comfortable working with overseas visitors, and willing to learn. Experience with web sites and social networking, plus ability to multi-task and prioritize are also useful.
